Martin Bagge
Martin Bagge is considered one of the most prominent Scandinavian
musicians in the tradition from C.M.Bellman, the rococo-genius of 18th century
Sweden. Bellman (1740-1795) wrote his songs named "Fredmans Epistles"
during the period of Gustaf III, and describes Stockholm in a vivid, fluent
and humoristic way, with street life, drinking and dancing - as well as courtly
life at the castles of Haga and Drottningholm.
Bagge performs continually with different orchestras and ensembles, and has
made tours to Iceland, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Latvia, the Netherlands and
Germany. He visited the USA in 1997 and 2002 with concerts in Boston, Minneapolis,
Pittsburgh, San Fransisco a.o.
Bagge sings Bellman in english, and an english CD-version of "Fredmans
Epistles" was released in 2002.
He is also known as a composer (specially for choir) with about 15 recordings
on LP and CD, and has regularly performed in scandinavian radio and TV.
